Can someone explain why some of the races where 2 3 and 4 yr olds run there is a one pound difference in weights ie 1k and optional claimer on todays card. Then on several 3 and up there is a 2 pound difference between 3 yrs and 4 yrs old ie tuesday's q races and many other div. races. I dont understand the logic with 1 lb difference in some races and 2 lbs in other between a 3yr and 4 yr old.

3 year old creates race 1 lb over in create races too

The difference between 2yo and 4yo is 4 pound which would make it too much of an advantage , These races split up the advantage so that an older horse have a slight advantage but not enough that a 2 yo could not over come . These are usually lower entry races for lower quality horses or cheaper creates . Not sure why we have them . I think they were requested to help get bigger fields for lower quality horses . It also gives older horses more races to run in . We might just remove them if they are not filling . Thanks
