Creation Versus Breeding
It's nothing uncommon to hear complaints about created horses and how useless they are or how many trainers have had without a single create hitting the track. Personally I think it's time to look at doing away with them completely.
Admin mentioned in the chat room the other night that something is in the works to do away with vouchers for new players. If this takes place then I see very little reason for the existance of created horses in the game. With the advancement of bloodlines that stables are
producing and a growing number of consistant breeders then this eliminates the need for created horses. Yes it's nice to receive the benefit of the paddock club horses for frequent play and offers admin the availability to reward such frequent play with no overhead, but if trainers are paying for vet visits and making an attempt to run these horse, I'd think it would be safe to say that although there are exceptions, most stables are losing money.
The only argument for keeping creates around that I can see is their effect on the hidden number of horses. It's made clear on the help page that each horse has visible and invisible numbers that affect its performance on the track. How do these numbers change over time? Does the best possible numbers a horse can produce eventually drop over time as horses are continually bred to different mares and different stallions and the "virtual gene pool" is diluted? Of course it's possible for a horseto be better than it's parents, we've seen that many times, but is it possible for a horse to be better than any horse in it's pedigree? If the answer is no, then perhaps we need creates around in order to revitalize these hidden numbers in our horses or slowly as breeding continues through generation after generation the abilities of the horses will steadily start to drop. If there is a random factor in the horses that can cause a horse to end up with better "genes" than would otherwise be possible based on the hidden
numbers of the parents and other horses in its pedigree, then there is no use for creates in the game. Perhaps we can answer these questions ourselves without having to harass admin with questions about secrets of the game's programming. Let's take a look at the current track record
holders, the best of the best. Max generation in pedigree shown.

Caite created
Corn Beef Hash Created
Man Made Flame Bred from 1st generation sire/1st generation dam
Whack Em Bred from 2nd generation sire/3rd generation dam
Derailed Bred 2nd generation sire/ 2nd generation dam
MEGZ RULZ Bred 2nd generation sire/ 2nd generation dam
Mcfly Fishing Bred 1st generation sire/ 2nd generation dam
Pearl Diver Bred 1st generation sire/ 1st generation dam

Texas Ed Scintilator Bred 1st generation sire/ 3rd generation dam
Hustler Bred 1st gernation sire/ 3rd generation dam
Sky Force Bred 1st generation sire/ 2nd generation dam
Flathead Created
Cuervo Bred 2nd generation sire/ 2nd generation dam
Zoom Bred 1st generation sire/ 1st generation dam
Jumpin Jill Bred 1st generation sire/ 1st generation dam
Billy's Royal Plan Bred 2nd generation sire/ 1st generation dam

Of course there's nothing scientific about these horses as viewer changes and class performance could easily put a horse on the list. But it is noticeable that the list is dominated with bred horses and some of those younger horses that are 2nd and 3rd generation could possibly get faster
with age, thus raising the bar a little more.It can also be misleading in that some of theses have great horses in their pedigrees. Horses which they will never meet the greatness of. Hustler for example will never compete on the level of his sire Pension Plan. However on the other side Mcfly Fishing has equalled if not bettered the numbers of his sire Mcfly. If Mcfly Fishing can
put up close to the breeding numbers of his sire then he will be a shining example that the mysterious "gene pools" can possibly get better instead of being diluted over time. Whack em will be interesting to watch over the next few seasons to see if he can out produce his ancestors with
great horses on both sides of his pedigree.
As with much debates of this sort we are left with no clear conclusions and a little bit of digression as we try to look back at what we set out to accomplish. Although there's no way with current numbers of horses and the fact that most horses in the game are not more than 2nd or 3rd
generation to determine whether or not there is a need for creates to stay in the game to keep the numbers up, initial thoughts from looking through pedigrees and horse stats say no, they are no longer needed in the game.
