» Bad Deb Claimed for 100K Published 09/20/2009

Bad Deb F4
Bad Boy / Queenie Deb

TR- Sept 19/09 S14 had 8 claiming races for the day’s racing with 52 horses entered in the claiming races for an average of 6.50 horses entered per race. 33 were colts (63.46%) & 19 were fillies (36.54%).

8 fillies & 3 colts were claimed. 42.11% of the girls were claimed versus 9.09% of the boys being claimed for a total of 21.15% of horses being claimed for the day
.

The interesting claiming race for the day is race #20, a 2K claimer for fillies with 10 horses entered & 6 of the 10 horses being claimed therefore, a claim rate of 60% for this race. 19Sep09-20 CAL. What are the chances of 60% of the horses getting claimed in one given race? Not too often but it does happen as statistics indicate.
Star Of The Desert claimed 3 fillies, Socratic Racing 1 filly, Carmona Farm 1 filly & Aquaman Stable 1 filly. Days races Sept19/09 S14.

It appears that the 50K-100K claiming races are run on a regular basis but one would have to note that there aren’t many claims for these races. Why? Is it the horse’s past performance indicating, claimer Be Aware? Is it the horse’s pedigree indicating, claimer Be Aware or a combination of both? Possibly, it is due to the fact of a slow economy, also having an effect on members to invest BIG dollar on a horse or horses?

We know there are horses in the 50K-100K races that are worth their claiming fee. Worth the expense of the high claim due to the fact of the horse becoming a profitable investment for the future as a continued racer & as a profitable sire or broodmare.

The case of spending BIG dollar on a quality horse or should one say presumed quality horse does not always pan out, even to a sharp eyed claimant. It is a risk that players have taken in the past & continue to take in hopes of claiming or buying a horse that may be profitable for a stable as an immediate investment or a future investment.

Bad Deb was claimed for the amount of 100K in race 19Sep09-6 CAL from Star Of The Desert by Donovan Stables. If one or more claims was submitted is unknown. Was SOTD surprised to see BD claimed or should one say, was he sad or happy to see BD claimed? In the claiming races regardless, if it’s low end claiming races or high end claiming races, one never knows when someone may or will submit a claim on a horse.

Bad Deb is a 6th generation on the Top Line (sire’s side) of the dam’s line & a 4th generation on the Bottom Line (dam’s side) for both the sire line & dam line. The 4yo filly has Pension Plan as sire on the Top Line  (sire’s side) & also on the Bottom Line (dam’s side). The Pension Plan pedigree is 4 generations back on the Top Line & 4 generations back on the Bottom Line. That is... looking at the pedigree in reverse starting at the last pedigree bred. (left to right versus right to left) Bad Deb being generation one & Pension Plan generation four.

Bad Deb – Lifetime starts - 39/8/12/7 Win 20.51% Place 30.77% Show 17.95% - ITM (1st-3rd) 69.23%. Earnings 153,290K.

Wishing Donovan Stables the best with the purchase of this 4yo filly, Bad Deb.

» Speed Racer Claimed for 50K Published 09/16/2009

Speed Racer F2
Plan B / Speedy Plan

TR-Sept 15/09 S14 had 17 claiming races for the day's racing with 129 horses entered for an average of 7.58 horses entered per race. 79 were colts (61.24%) & 50 were fillies (38.76%). We know that it’s impossible to enter a half horse in a race but that is just the way it is with the calculation.

The highest bid for the day of racing activity was won by Ryan Express with a submitted bid of 50K for the 2yo filly Speed Racer. If more then one claim was submitted for the 2yo filly is unknown. The 2yo filly was bred at the Cybertooth Stable to sire Plan B. Speed Racer’s sire was bred by Gunner & purchased from Gunner by Cybertooth & is currently owned by Cybertooth. At time of print, Plan B had 4 stud services remaining. A sire is allotted 50 pops & a broodmare is allotted to breed 10 times.

Plan B’s son, I B Rockin bred & owned by Gunner won the Colt Eliminator VI Championship Final collecting 110,000K for a first in his 3rd lifetime start earning a total of 114,200K. Lifetime Starts 3/1/0/1.

Speed Racer is a third generation on the Top Line & an eighth generation on the Bottom Line. The 2yo’s pedigree indicates that Plan B, Pension Plan & Cinderella have been used in the breeding program on the Top Line & Bottom Line. Speed Racer & her dam Speedy Plan are both sired by Plan B.

Speed Racer which was entered in The Preview Eliminator Races for S14 had 2 wins out of 3 starts bringing in a total of 39,000K for the Cybertooth Stable. The 2yo filly came in second in her 4th lifetime start collecting 4,500K generating a total revenue in track earnings of 43,500K plus the 50,000K claiming fee less 15% commission fee paid out to DD. A decent dollar generated by the 2yo filly for the Cybertooth Stable in 4 lifetime starts including the 50,000K claiming race 15Sep09-6 CAL less commission. Lifetime Starts 4/2/1/0

This filly should have an interesting career ahead of her.

Wishing Ryan Express the best with the purchase of this 2yo filly, Speed Racer.

The other 2 horses claimed were Green Friendly C3 for 30K from Carmona Farm by Donovan Stables & Semiautomatic F2 for 2k from Ryan Express by Bald Farm Inc.

» 10K Claimer Paying Dividends for Turf Downs Published 07/12/2009
TR-It appears that Turf Downs has struck gold at the track with his 10,000K claimed horse. One never knows when a claimed horse can turn out to be a worthy investment. TD joined the DD Forum in S7 and has been having a very successful run with one of his 10,000K claimers in S13.

Turf Downs claimed his horse Frontier-lass, bred by Sparc Stables from Ryan Express in her first lifetime start out of the gate on 04May09-12 CAL S13. The two-year-old filly has been ITM (in the money) in all 8 of her lifetime starts. Not ONLY has she been ITM for all 8 of her starts, she has also WON 6 races consecutively with one 2ND (Place) & one 3RD (Show) in her first two starts out of the gate.

In the past fifteen days, the filly was entered in the SSR races, also Winning two SSR races back to back with a starter allowance race in between. The two-year-old filly has generated revenue of 60,400K for TD in the past fifteen days in the SSR races.

The two-year-old filly has some very interesting breeding stats. Frontier-lass is a 7TH generation on the Top Line & a 5TH generation on the Bottom Line. The pedigree has seven pedigrees repeated two times in the Top Line between Sire & Dam.

Names are in alphabetical order but not in breeding order.

Aussie Pub (2x) Blank Canvas (2x), Blankety Blank (2x), Catfish Hunter (2x), Hunting With Blanks (2x), Meat (2x), & Meaty Bitz (2x).

Frontier-lass - Win 75%, Place 12.50%, Show 12.50%, ITM 100%, Earnings 98290.

10TH position - Top 10 Current Year Standings - Races Won.

Congratulations Turf Downs (Colin) on an Exceptional Job!

Keep up the good work!

» Farewell Champ Retired at Faraway Farms Published 07/1/2009

TR-The last sired offspring by Pension Plan has been retired at Faraway Farms as a broodmare. FAREWELL CHAMP M6 (Pension Plan / Graceful Spirit) was PP’s last active sired offspring racing at the DD domain. The exceptional pedigree is a 2ND generation on the Top Line & a 5TH generation on the Bottom Line.

The Pension Plan H14 pedigree has been a major boast in the breeding sector for many stables around the world. Pension Plan currently has 25 offspring available for breeding & 25 of his offspring are either permanently retired or have met their maximum allowable breeding quota. The maximum allowable breeding quota for a Sire is 50 pops & 10 stands for a Broodmare.

The retired broodmare was bred by Getting Lucky Lodge of Australia. The 6 year-old broodmare had 96 lifetime starts at the Getting Lucky Lodge stable. The well bred broodmare brought in revenue of 982,530K in her 96 lifetime starts when she was owned by GLL.

On April 24/09 S12, FC was entered in DD’s 18TH overall Auction with a 500,000K reserved bid in place by GLL. A single bid was submitted to purchase Farewell Champ by Faraway Farms for the reserved bid price of 500,000K. Farewell Champ was the highest selling priced horse at this Auction. Was or should one say, is “Faraway Farms satisfied with his 500,000K purchase”?

Farewell Champ had 9 lifetime starts at the Faraway Farms stable. FC never succeeded to win any races for FF but she did Place (2ND) three times in 9 races. FC earned a total of 19,580K in her 9 lifetime starts at the Faraway Farms stable.

Who is the winner, seller Getting Lucky Lodge or buyer Faraway Farms? Did a change in ownership in relationship to training affect her performance? Did FC meet her destiny with a racing career of 105 lifetime starts with a possibility of having met her destiny prior to the 105 lifetime starts?

Faraway Farms is a wise stable manager & his strike rate for wins is 18.82% as of today. With 186 starts in S13, FF is in 5TH position of the “Top 10 for Win Percentage”.

One would have to assume that FF didn’t look at the 500,000k purchase price for FC as an expense, but as a future investment. An investment as was when he purchased top notch sire Jumpin Jack Flash H9 at the October 11/08 S11 Auction from Gunner Stable for 750,000K. At time of publication Jumpin Jack Flash had sired 46 foals therefore, 4 services still available.

At time of publication, FC had produced 5 offspring. The 5 offspring produced are at the Ryan Express stable. Whether RE was a paying partner for the purchase of FC with Faraway Farms is unknown. Is it possible that RE is a 50% partner on the purchase of FC with FF? Regardless, one would assume that owner or owners said, farewell "Farewell Champ" & Welcome the new generation of FC progeny.

Farewell Champ105/35/30/13 Win 33.33% Place 28.57% Show 12.38%. ITM (1ST-3RD) 74.29%. Total Earnings 1,002,110K.

May the progeny of "Pension Plan", one of several of DD’s Greatest Sires continue to linger in bloodlines around the world for players at/of DD.

Wishing Faraway Farms & Ryan Express the best with Farewell Champ Progeny!

» THIRD Track Record Recorded by Christie's Colt Published 06/26/2009

TR-24Jun09-13 BEL S13 the third track record was recorded in “The Track Record Book”. The well bred four-year-old colt, Christie’s Colt, (Lunar Fly / Divided We Fall) bred & owned by Ryan Express had an exceptional day at the track. CT is also, an exceptional pedigree for a third generation horse.

Drawing gate one with DD’s hottest 20 year-old jockey Gomez G riding, horse & rider made an astounding effort. Review of the race would indicate that Gomez G knew what to expect & knew what he was doing.

With Storm Alert (American Flyer / Stormy Deb) in the lead out of gate six & jockey Nelson D riding, Gomez G knew that Nelson D would be pushing hard for the inside rail. To avoid giving horse number six any advantage of pulling along the rail in front, Gomez G pushed even more to avoid giving horse number six any advantage. Pushing just enough & making it impossible for horse number six Storm Alert, unable to move in to the inside rail in front of Christie’s Colt.

Prior to the seventh furlong with Storm Alert in lane two, horse number one managed to surpass the leading horse. With an open horizon up front of no horses in sight, Gomez G pushed Christie’s Colt for an amazing Win & New track record.

Place was Casual Eddie (Eddie Spagetti / Casual Affair) bred & owned by Faraway Farms.

Show was Surfizz (Sir Henry / Miss Fizz) bred & owned by Getting Lucky Lodge.

The previous track record on 1 ¼ turf Bel, was recorded by Jocks Trapp (Resident Evil / Baroness Von Trapp) on his 42ND lifetime start in a time of 2:02.87 when Ryan Express owned him on 10Jul08-7 BEL S10. JT was claimed on 4 various occasions in his racing career. JT is currently owned by Favorite Trick & is currently up for stud at 1000K a pop.

Christie’s Colt shows the same time as Jock’s Trapp, which means that his time was just a bit better, therefore, surpassing JT by a fine hair. CT is a third generation on the Top Line & a second generation on the Bottom Line. Created is first generation.

Christie's Colt 46/17/4/8 - Win 36.96%. Place 8.70%. Show 17.39%. ITM 63.04%.

Earnings 726650K.

A job well done by horse, jockey & trainer.

Congratulations Ryan Express on a New track record for the “Track Record Book”!
