Grades Stakes Racing Overview
Graded Racing Structure |
---|
There will be 3 tiers of graded racing for both 2yo's and 3yo+. 4yo+ horses may have restricted races but for the most part will compete with 3yo horses. Each tier will earn graded racing points to be counted within the tier and also towards the overall graded racing leaderboard. Horses will be ranked based on their total points and this will determine the eligibility for special meets, races and the end of season BC Championships. There will not be an auto entry process for any special meets, races or end of season BC races. Stables will have to enter their horses into these races and horses will be accepted based on their eligibility status. Only the overall points leaderboard will be considered for BC Series Championship eligibility. The BC Series and Graded Stakes points system has been designed and implemented to give a fairer point allocation to horses entered in all graded stakes events. This points system is particularly important for second instances of races so that horses entered in the first instance are not at a disadvantage as would be the case if fewer runners in a second instance earned the same points. Points that are allocated per race result according to the number of entries in the race. As an example, a 4 horse race will earn the following points: 1st = 5 points |2nd = 3 points |3rd = 2 points |4th = 1 point | Rule on Ties for eligibility |
