While the state bred bonuses have been a positive for the game we are aware of some concerning data. We knew this would evolve and we want to be proactive in addressing the concerns. The main concern is the disparity in state-bred types. As it stands now this is the breakdown of existing state-bred % by state.
California Bred - 4% of population
Pennsylvania Bred - 7% of population
Florida Bred - 13% of population
New York Bred - 15% of population
Kentucky Bred - 61% of population
---------------------------------
Now we know that DD has contributed to this disparity by making the sales ring all KY bred but the fees for farms etc have also contributed to light state breds outside of KY
This has impacted gameplay
An example would be that we needed to cancel the State Futurity Cups because there was no way CA and FL and PA would have enough of a pool for entries We also could not run the planned state championships that the winners would then face off in a nation wide event.
We incorrectly assumed that lower breeding fees and state-bred bonuses would push stables to breed in CA FL and PA. We are also very aware of missed opportunities by stables by not racing horses in the state tracks. Every race offers cash bonuses for state breds yet very little is actually paid out compared to the total potential daily payout (edited)
So there will be change to the bonuses to see if we can incite involvement in state breds in another way
