  • Horse meters

First off I want to welcome all the new players to the game.

In searching the old archives of the forum I found an article by Thunder Downunder on mastering the meters of horses that might prove helpful ig you are having trouble with your horse's meters. This article was written quite awhile ago but I think it is still very accurate.

HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE AND EVERYONE WHO ARE HAVEING METER PROBLEMS.

"Tweaking the Meters - The Thunder Way"

11F lpg's will work for most horses most of the time by bringing up all the meters into the 95-100 range. To achieve perfect results i.e. 100's across the board, slight adjustments have to made. These adjustments are made by altering the distance and/or surface of the regular train. The highest green meter other than Fitness governs the adjustment. Here are some example scenarios and what training method I would use for best results.

    SPD/STM/END/STR/FIT:

    Example 1) 77 74 78 79 75 - 1 3/8m dirt lpg

    Example 2) 78 79 83 85 69 - 9F dirt lpg

    Example 3) 85 74 75 80 80 - 8F turf lpg

    Example 4) 79 83 72 81 85 - 9F dirt lpg

    Example 5) 77 82 84 81 100 - 9F turf lpg

    Example 6) 88 82 90 90 100 - 1 3/8 dirt lpg

    Example 7) 85 85 93 91 100 - tough one. 4F turf lpg

    Example 8) 89 86 83 81 100 - 2F turf slow

    Example 9) 88 85 87 90 100 - 2f dirt slow

    Example 10) 100 99 98 100 95 - 2F dirt medium gallop

    Example 11) 100 100 100 100 98 - 2F dirt fast gallop

    Example 12) 22 7 18 4 44 - Give the horse to someone else to train

    Notes:
SPD meter will climb higher using dirt but will rise less using turf.
STR meter will climb higher using turf but will rise less using dirt.
END/STM meter climb rates are dependent upon the horse.
FIT meter is assisted by overnight creep and most times will hit 100 unless it comes back from a race 65 or less. In this case you will need a 4-day train plan i.e. a combo of scenarios above.

There is enough info there for you to mull over Brian. I have run out of time to fully explain why I use the above. I will post that info in a later post.
