    Red Cadeaux

In my opinion if the going is good or better he wont win. But if the going goes soft or worse than he wont be stopped, he loves the wet and the more rain the better he runs..

Speed doesn’t matter as much as direction.

Looks like it will be a dead track i.e. just worse than good. I really like the weight drop. M. Rodd has won the cup before. Drawing 16 of the 23 won't matter over 2 miles. I think he is good value at 45/1. Got the winner last year at 12/1 but was a long dry spell before that.

      Thanks for the info

Red Cadeaux went within a mosquito's dick of beating the French horse Dunaden with the German horse Lucas Cranach third. Americain 4th.

        I had 50 e.w. so I get back $700, another inch and I collect over 3K.

The track was upgraded to Good after I put my bet on and I thought "I've done my dough here" but the weight drop made up for the track condition.

I owe you a beer or two.

P.S. Now off to the local track to see if I can get the quinella (Statue's Angel and Knoxville) up in the last race.

I didn't realize Americain was USA bred. It was French owned and I assumed it was bred in France. The other USA bred horse Unusual Suspect finished 9th.

There are 3 big races during the Spring Carnival.

Caulfield Cup 1 1/2 miles good lead-up to the Melb. Cup
Cox Plate 1 1/4 miles Weight For Age
              Melbourne Cup 2 miles handicap.

No jockey has won all 3 in the same year. This year Craig Williams rode the winner of the Caulfield Cup and won on another horse in the Cox Plate. He was booked to ride Dunaden in the Melbourne Cup but got suspended for careless riding in a minor race on Saturday. They flew his regular French rider Mikel Delzangels out for the one ride. He was on the plane 15 hours. Went straight to the stables and the rest is history.

Having Michael Evans aboard was a big plus. He needed an aggressive rider.
